Every October, the Jefferson Lions Club holds the Mustang Car Show, featuring various classes, judging, and trophies for the winners. It's a fun Saturday with a disc jockey, door prizes, raffles, food and more! A portion of the money raised goes to the Jefferson Lions Club charity fund, which is used to purchase eyeglasses for needy school students, scholarships for deserving high school graduates, and many other worthwhile endeavors. The rest of the proceeds go to the Court Appointed Children's Advocate program (CASA). CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they donít get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. The 2012 Mustang Car show raised $1,150 for CASA of Northeast Texas, and we look forward to the future!
